Shocked and shattered, we of tears and woe wept
To all corners – Humanity’s ruin
Into little pieces, away we’re swept
From hairline fractures rent to rubble strewn
Petty prejudice, greed, fear and doubt
Into our hearts estrangements bear heavy
Impending ruin to which we’re thrust
Asylum seekers from once an Eden
Gathering up pieces our love did dare
Gluing back together the trust – golden
Restoring love global fitting to share
Offered up a bowl without flaws
That carried our future into hope’s maws.

Beauty in depths of soul
Aperture to the universe
Tuning out blurs of ugliness
Lifting the fog of ignorance
But, by love’s keenest eyes
Slithers of life delectable
Cut from its bladed focus.

Sing to me a second chance
Another dawn of reckoning
Facing the music of life
That I too will join its chorus
Welcoming its burgeoning day
Sing to me a second chance
That I may see pain a-new
And walk with it as a friend
As dusk had kneeled down in prayer
For another dawn of reckoning.

Rendered beyond recognition
Dissolving in slipstreams of change
Greatest empathy – cognition
Consciousness – never again the same
A grand whole new species of thought
Evolution and survival
For all love and sanity’s sake
It’s only natural selection
So please ponder
Deep and careful.

Cathedrals of light we raise
Lifting Man from his dust
Of power and wealth we praise
Yet how different are we to Babel?
Back to dirt and foundations
Humble Man, simple our needs
For my heart only need soar
And my mind to scintillate
A myriad candles to light
For none can soar higher
Than souls unencumbered.

For each new day
Morning’s light renewed
Its vows to life
For each new dawn
My heart renewed
Its vows of love
As each rainbow arch
A promise and oath
A marriage of colour
Consummation of light
Casting darkness aside
To its shadow and night
Kept in its place of shade
By love’s gleaming lustre.

You are spirit distilled
Essence of Heaven
Extract of wonder
Fragrance rich and rare
Wafting pass souls
Uplifting with your breath
That all may live
And hope again
Tell me dear stranger
What vision are you?
A mere frangipani dream?
Or could you impossibly be
Sublime grace of Man.

Unknowing beauty
Unseen ugliness
And explicit shame
…
Unknowing ugliness
Unseen our beauty
And freedom from blame
…
Flawless and gilded
Polished souls reflect
All of Mankind lame
…
Before perfection
Polished souls reflect
Love’s infinite plane.

I need no pride
To live my life
Or to goad and motivate
I have wonder
Awe and fascination
Honours sufficient
Bearing witness
Never shame
And thus attest
In place of pride
Wondrous worlds!
Amazing lives!
Awaiting my heart.

Little boy, little boy, born not of womb
But spawn begotten amidst bloody wound
You never grew to become man – so fine
But scar tissue on face of humankind.
