Dappled shade
Reveals my life
Living nightmare
Broad daylight
Each day lived
Life be dabbled
One path at a time travelled
Filling blanks
Jigsaw puzzled
Cryptic cross-roads
Exhumes death
Ravens bask in solar glare
Burnt by rays of truth so fair
Feathered message
From the dark
Guides the living paths
To prayer
Where sweet pigeons
Yet to tread
Only in dreams are they fed.
Cheung-Ling Wong
When the sun’s rays
Caressed earth inspired
Boughs soared heaven bound
With leafy spires
And thus
How paradise transpired.
Love’s heaven and earth
Breached their beyond
Their children walked
Dappled paths and ’yond
Safely ’neath
Their sacred dell and bond.
Cheung-Ling Wong
When hot and cold
Embrace in warmth
Our weather clears;
The air – sublime
When Man embraces
Harmony
The road is clear;
Journey’s divine
When none embrace
Impunity
Souls may reach
Their felicity.
Cheung-Ling Wong
Unmoved solidity
Walls of reality
Indifferent to me
Manic emotions be
Unyielding this despair
Not an inch had it spared;
If this be real, then I?
Where in schemed do I lie?
Soul’s moving abundance
Witness my true substance
Unseen between these walls
That held an aching void
Promised no answers toyed
Much too big a question
This emptiness had asked
A frantic quest too vast
Untempered, gushed life’s task
To live this world so fast;
Whirlwind picks dust at rest
I, its journey and quest.
Cheung-Ling Wong
To live as if a whisper
The gentlest breath of life
To flicker the flame
For beauty’s sake
But never blow out
Or suffocate.
Cheung-Ling Wong
Ancestors
In my flesh and bones
When I am hurt
I hear weeping
With fear
I feel a shudder near
When I jump
To whom joy belongs?
Their happiness
Is much as mine
When I think
’Tis they that inspire
With their effort
I now perspire
’Tis through my eyes
Their visions clear
And whispered wisdoms
Through my ear;
What did suffer
Yet survived fear?
It was I
And many lives dear.
