Petals in the Breeze

This life is but a blink

As is this moment passing

A vignette along eternity

Stay and follow its path

And you will never be lost

Despite time falling away

Each step made and bade

Each year and life – a petal

Floating away in the breeze

A journey to – and in heaven

As you carry the divine within

Safely through time’s treachery

And its hellish, testing passes.

Cheese Cake

They say sugar is bad for you

Thus, too much sweetness

And too much joy

Is unhealthy for life

So take your pudding

With a pinch of salt

Or a teary drop

And a squeeze of lemon

Bitter and sour.

All But Said

My life is my epitaph

Only I bid truly know

And for the rest to ponder

When I’m afar or long gone

Each moment I’d lived

An elegy whispered in its wake

Intimate truths revealed

To live and leave life

With nothing left unsaid

Even in silent rapture

Be of womb or tomb

My echoes within capture.

The Stray Dog

I dared stray off that path

Well laid with good intentions

Wandering off its paving

Towards the tall grass

And through the shady glade

Some say I was waylaid

Or, took leave of my senses

Shunning all reality

To embrace nature’s beauty

That delusion, that illusion

Mere remnant of a long lost dream

A mirage in the wilderness

Why do we build and follow paths?

If not to pursue that dream

Yet, amongst the trees and fields

I’m truly awake and real

Away from the nightmares

We had so long pursued.

Press Reset

Arguments out of whack

As were their emotions’ tact

Behaviour well out of line

As were their estimations mine

Groundless such depravity!

Defying earth’s own gravity

I needn’t fret or vex reviled

But jump in celebration!

With my simple truths redialled

All in re-calibration!

Reapings

Much time and effort

Much energy and genius

Much treasure and resources

For the sake of cruelty

And cruelty will return in irony

Rewards for one’s efforts

Do not go unnoticed

So, be careful how you invest

All your scarce resources

For Fate will return as dividends

Your hard earned karma and more.

Lay-by

They say I had a raw deal

As raw as my wounds

Taking all the blows

Taking all the insults

Paying for it with love

Paying with forgiveness

For the rest of my life

I don’t disagree

Costly it is indeed to all

The cruelties of Man

But a relative bargain

When compared to paying

With like blows and insults

And compounding interest

Some call justice and jury

But I call – compounding injury.

The Beholder

Reality is but truly

A black and white film

Imagination colours it in

Yet, life is more than just

Salt and pepper milled

Mere vibrations become

Music and sound to my ears!

At least that’s what I thought

Thank goodness for thought!

Beauty really is in its beholder

In our dark and silent recesses

No, I’m not in touch of reality

Yes, I’m a lurid fantasy

Yet, I’m so much more

Than just colours and sounds

I’m the very latest download

The very software of my soul

For a life lived fantastic!

Re-orientate

They – have no bearing on me

I am my own compass

And my very own Polaris

They – try with their issues

Petty games and intrigue

Trying, testing and tiring

But, I will not be moved

’Cos my heart and mind

Is pointing all the way

Do you feel its tug and pull?

It’s love and understanding!

There’s no energy for conflict

Directions are diamond clear

Our journey, long and hard won

So let us all give and forgive

So love can claim us all.

Fallen Leaves

I am the visitation

Like gathering cockatoos

In their noisy tribes

Adorning the ghostly gums

Or the silent burgeoning

Of Easter Daisies

Oceans of mauve in their drift

Or as the cooling breeze

That gathers fallen leaves

I have my allotted season

And my plot upon earth

As I gather up humanity

Behind my swirling wake

Deep within our fall.
